AdWords Referrals - Another Good Tool For Webmasters

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

These days Google introduced another good tool for his AdSense publishers, The AdWords Refferals Tool.

What is AdWords Refferals?

As Google is saying on their official website:

Referrals is a feature of AdSense that allows you to increase your revenue while increasing your users’ awareness of useful products and services. By adding a referral button to your site, you can direct users to products like AdSense and Firefox with Google Toolbar. When your referral connects a user to one of our referral products, you can generate more earnings while helping new web publishers monetize their websites or improve their web browsing experience.

They also said that you can receive $20 at every $100 spent (this was when they maked the announce the first time - no more available at this moment) by the advertisers who sign up through your links. This is what they say on their blog. On the other hand in this page they say that you will make $20 only when the advertisers is spending $100 on their first 90 days.

My opinion is that the best option will be to receive a % from the money they spend.

I think this option will make more publishers promote AdWords. This means more money for Google and more money for us.

Block Low Paying Adwords Ads with AdSense

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

Many AdSense publishers do not want to display low paying ads, irelevant or competitor ads. Google is offering you the option to do this verry easy.

First you need to find out what is the Ad’s URL

All you need to do is to bloch the display URL or the destination URL into your filter. To find out what you will block you can use the AdSense Preview Tool ( https://www.google.com/adsense/previewtool )

The AdSense Preview Tool is an addition to the right-click menu of Internet Explorer 6.x browsers. It offers the ability to view the ads that would appear on your page, and to display the destination URLs of these ads with only a few clicks.

Block the Ad in 3 easy steps:

1. Enter your AdSense account
2. Go to AdSense Setup section and then to Competitive Ad Filter

The Competitive Ad Filter enables you to block specific ads, such as competitors’ ads, from appearing on your pages.

3. In the field provided there anter on every new line the sites that you want to block.

Note that the changes can take a few hours before making effect.

What is a good ctr for AdSense

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

The CTR is the ratio of the number of times a user clicks on an online advertisement per number of viewers who view the web site that has the advertisement on it. For example, if one out of 100 people who visit a specific Web site click on an advertisement and are taken to the advertiser’s site, then the CTR of that advertisement is 1/100, or 1%.

AdSense is having also implemented this system, so you can see how efficient are your ads.

The CTR varies from site to site.

Things that can increase your CTR:

  • the position of the ad on your site
  • the color of the ad
  • the content you offer
  • the type of visitors you have
  • Usually i have seen sites that are having 0,5% CTR, but i also seen sites that are having 30% CTR or even more.

My opinion is that between 5% and 15% is a normal CTR if you have well targeted visitors coming from search engines.

How to choose the right site for making money with AdSense

    Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

A lot of questions these days around this subject.
People want to know what are the best types of websites that can make money using the Google Ads.

If you are not an experienced webmaster, making money with AdSense will not be so easy. There are a lot of things to know before starting this type of business.
Things you need to know when you start a new website:

  • who will be your audience
  • who are your competitors
  • the size of your market
  • the profession of your visitors
  • the country of your visitors
  • Another important thing is how to make your site popular and make more people come to you. If you don’t know how to build traffic to your site you will not make money with AdSense.

Concentrate on traffic and quality content.

People wil love you if you brign to them unique quality content that they can’t find in other places. Also this will help you increasing your link popularity.

In my next post i will speack about link popularity and AdSense.

    >Why AdSense is sopopular, and worldwide used

    Sunday, March 26th, 2006

In these days most of the webmasters make money only from AdSense because this is one of the easyest way to make money from a website.

Why AdSense is sopopular, and worldwide used?

    - you don’t need to sell enything to make money
    - with affiliate program you need to generate sells, and with adsense not
    - easy to implement
    - a large number of advertisers that are paying high prices per click
    - targeted ads to the content

My own opinion is that a large numbers of webmasters are making money online only with AdSense.

In my next post i will talck about how to choose the right site for you, if you want to make money with AdSense.

The perfect surfer for your AdSense ads

    Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

I have made a lot of research around what type of internet surfer is more predictible to click on AdSense ads.

As you may know on internet are all kind of people from poor people who want to make some money to rich people that want to sell their products or to teach others how to make money. All of them are havin some interests so they are predictible to click on ads.

If you run a website that is offering services to webmasters, techies, digg news users you will not have so much success because most of them are familiar with the ads and will not click. After a while, many of them probably don’t even see the ads.
For this kind of users you can use affiliate programs.

Some people are getting high CTR from niche sites that offer free information. Some good niches to step forward in are: Info about loans, credits, law practices and news, business news, economy news type of sites that will not atract webmasters as principal source of income.

First comed best paid - the secret revealed

    Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

This is some of the biggest change you must do to your site if you display Ads By Goooogle.

It taked a long time to me to see what is one of the biggest secret and how i can increase CPC verry easy.
As you may know the AdWords advertisers are paying a lot of money to appear in first positions.
Some of that spots can cost more than $45, this means you can earn $5-$11/click or so.
I bet you want that ads on your site but you are not sure how to get them.

Well, that ads are always displayed on a site, but you don’t know which of them are.

What can i do to find out which of the ads displayed on my site are expensive?

    The answer is verry simple.
I told you before that the advertisers are paying a lot to be on the first position when the ads are showed on a publisher’s website.

The ads that are first displayed on you website are the most expensive. Let’s think you display a medium box (block), that usually is having about 3-4 ads on a time. These ads will be the highest paid on your page.
You have another 2 blocks on your page that are displaying about 5 ads. When a user click on this last ad block you receive less money. But if the user clicks on your first ad block that is loaded on your page you will receive the maximum CPC on the keyword you target.

So displaying one ad block on you page, verry well blended and in a hot position will pay you more then posting 3 ad block on a page.

Part 2 - The type of website - High traffic, low AdSense income

    Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

These days i received some good feeback about what i told in High traffic, low AdSense income - Part 1. Some users agreed with my words and some used my advice.

Now i am back with Part 2!

Another important factor is what type of site you have.

    2. The type of website

Not all websites make the same money if they have the same traffic.
If you have a site that is looking exactly like other 1000 sites ( a blog ), and is displaying AdSense like them too, you have big chanses to make some $0.
The reason is that the users will notice verry easy the ads on the site and they will not click.
When a user comes to a site and click’s an ad, they are directed to a new site. At this moment there are 2 possibilities: to find on this site the information or services they need, or to click on another AdSense ad. The second scenario is transforming the user in a ball. They are passed from one site to another and in the final they will get tired. When an user is getting tired about some content they will avoid it. When you want to make some cash with AdSense try to make original sites with original placing. Doing this you will have more chances to have a good CTR.

As i told you the blogs are tending to receive few clicks in time because the users who are returning to that blog, will be less predicted to click on ads. I sugest combining AdSense with other affiliate program that match to your content.

Another low CTR generating type of website is the website made for webmasters. Most of them are aware about how AdSense works and they are probably using it on their own websites, so if you will make a 0,1% CTR you will be lucky.
But don’t get scared. There are also new webmasters who are at beginning. They can be your target because they will search for new sources of information or products that might help them to learn fast.

    Part 3 will come!

    High traffic, low AdSense income

    Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

There are a lot of website owners who are having a lot of traffic on their websites but thes income from AdSense is verry low. For example we will use Dan as a website owner. He having a site with 10,000 - 12,000 unique visitors per day, a CTR of maximum 0,6%, and a daily earning of 20/30$ .

Let’s analyse the problem step by step.

    1. The traffic problem

Dan says he is having about 10,000 - 12,000 uniques per day. This is good traffic for a website but let’s see how good is it.

Some of the main imoprtant factors of the traffic are:
  • the source: buyed traffic, website referers, direct visitors or search engines;
  • the visitors: what interestes they have, what they are looking for, what ages and sex
  • the country of the visitor
  • and one of the most important this is the proffesion
  • Many site owners do not understand that the proffesion of the visitor is verry important. If they make a site that is offering info or services for other site owners, it is possible that 90% of their visitors to be aware about AdSense and they will not click on the ads, so, it will remain only 10% and from them.
Let’s consider 2-3% will click on the ads. I will let you think what this means.

The country of the visitor is another important factor that can have impact on your business, for the simple fact that the advertisers are more interested in US, Canada and Western countries traffic so they will pay more for this ads.

The first on the traffic list is the source. New site owners who are not verry experienced think that if they buy traffic ( 20,000 visitors at 100$ ) they will make a fortune. This will not happen. The companies who are offering this kind of services are most of them scamers. They will put bots visiting your site and you will not make any cent from this. More than that, you risking your banning from the AdSense publisher network.
The best source of traffic are the search engines and the other sites that link to you.

In my next post i will talk about the site optimisation, so come back for more.

Who will sell the secret of becoming a rich AdSense publisher

    Friday, March 10th, 2006

Many people in these days are trying to sell books about how to become an AdSense millionaire, rich guy or girl.

They all pretend that they are making a lot of money from AdSense, and on their websites you can see an endless page with a lot of talk about that.
Most of these so called “experts” are just people trying to make the millions. They are also displaying screenshots from their AdSense accounts, where they display some inflated earnings, in their desperate run for buyers.

I think no one will sell his success or method of making money.
Do you think a person who is making all that money from AdSense needs to make a book?

This guys are just scamers and this is the perfect word to describe them. They also make a 3px text on their sites in which they tell you clear that they do not have any guarantee of the methods described in their books.

So? Why to buy a book if you don’t have any guarantee?

There is a lot of free info on internet to read about this.
We also have posted a lot of useful info in this site for beginers.

The only method of making money with AdSense is:
    - write quality unique content
    - improve your SE rankings
    - obtain links from relevant sites to your content
    - update your content 2-3 times a week.

    All The Best!
